Where an organisation’s risk assessment of First Aid needs identifies that there is a requirement for First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work practitioners, then it is recognised that annual requalification should be done to help maintain the skill set of the first aider
All learners will have the skills and knowledge to provide the organisation with First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aider’s that can provide treatment to their
casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner
Who needs this qualification?
The Government has announced that health education will become compulsory in all state-funded schools in England from September 2020 and this includes basic first aid training.
Under the new statutory guidance, the Department for Education has recommended secondary school students should be taught how to administer CPR, the purpose of defibrillators (AED’s) and basic treatments for common injuries.
In addition, primary school students should be taught the concepts of basic first aid including how to make a clear and efficient call to the emergency services. (see mini medics for primary school students)
